Steam cleaning or van mounted hot water extraction is the cleaning method nearly all carpet manufactures and carpet fiber producer recommend. This process involves a warm detergent being sprayed on spots, spills and traffic patterns. Then a hot water, high pressure rinse is injected into the carpet pile. Immediately a high powered vacuum extracts up the water, detergent and soil. This is the only method classified as “deep cleaning”. All other methods are considered light surface cleaning because they are incapable of removing soil that lies deep in the carpet pile.
